This page explains what SteamTradeIndex collects when you use the site, why, and what control you have over it. We collect as little as the site actually needs to function, a bot directory, API, and listing dashboard, not an advertising profile.

1. Information we collect

Steam sign-in. When you sign in with Steam, we receive your SteamID64, public persona (display) name, avatar, and profile URL from Steam's own OpenID login, the same information visible on your public Steam profile. We never see or request your Steam password.

Listings you submit. Anything you enter when listing a bot, banner ad, or designer profile, name, description, rates, stock, Steam trade/profile links, portfolio links, and similar, is stored to display that listing.

Payment memo data. When a listing or ad subscription is paid for via a Steam key deposit, we store the deposit's trade ID, the sending Steam ID, the amount of keys received, and the resulting subscription dates, enough to credit the right listing and keep an audit trail. We do not process card payments and never see your financial account details.

Usage data. Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request path, timestamp) for security and abuse prevention, kept only as long as needed for that purpose.

Cookies. A single httpOnly session cookie that keeps you signed in. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

2. How we use it

  • Operate your account and the listings/ads tied to it.
  • Show your public listings, portfolio, and reviews on the directory.
  • Process and credit Steam-key subscription deposits to the right listing.
  • Moderate submissions and respond to abuse reports.
  • Keep the site secure (rate limiting, fraud/abuse detection).

We do not sell personal data, and we do not run third-party ad trackers on the site.

3. What's public

A bot, designer, or ad listing you submit and get approved is public by design, that is the point of a directory. Your Steam persona name and avatar appear next to listings you own unless you turn off the "Listed by" line from your dashboard. Your real name, email, or payment details are never shown publicly, we don't collect them in the first place.

4. Third parties

We query Steam's own public Web API to resolve profile avatars and display names. We don't share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics networks. Payment deposits are matched against a memo code you're shown in your dashboard; that lookup happens entirely in our own database.

5. Data retention & deletion

Account and listing data is kept while your account is active. You can delete a bot, ad, or designer listing yourself from your dashboard at any time. To delete your account entirely, reach us through the contact page, we'll remove your account data, though payment audit logs tied to completed deposits are kept for a reasonable period for fraud and accounting purposes.

6. Children

SteamTradeIndex is not directed at children and isn't intended for use by anyone under the minimum age required to hold a Steam account.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. Material changes update the "Last updated" date above.
